What is a Wedge Wire Filter Screen?

Wedge wire is a metallic filter media made up of v-shaped wires that are lined up against or wound around support or structure. The wires are attached through welding.

Wedge wire is a unique screening and filtration material used in many industries. The material being filtered flows through these formed slots. Most often, the surface facing the liquid is the flat/smooth side while the “v” shape is on the bottom.

The support structure for this material is located opposite the incoming material, which allows it to support the media while staying out of the path of flow. Flow direction can be either outside-to-inside or inside-to-outside and the filter is constructed accordingly.

Our wedge wire filters, cylinders and slot tubes are made from our profile wedge wires.

We offer three different options when it comes to our wedge wire filters.

Standard radial slot specification works by filtering from the outside to the inside. The profiled wire is welded to the support rod at the narrowest point, this gives the working outside a smooth surface.

Special radial slot specification works by filtering from the inside to the outside. The profiled wire is welded to the support rod at the widest point, as a result this will give an interrupted internal surface due to the support bars.

Axial slot specification works by filtering from the inside to the outside. The profiled wedge wires are run down the length of the tube and the support rods are then welded on the narrowest point of the wedge wire, therefore giving a smooth internal working surface.  Furthermore, the support rods are welded to the outer surface of the wedge cylinder giving profiles that are pressure welded to form the connection.
